Watched Star Trek: Wrath of Khan again tonight for the umpteenth time and it’s still my favourite Star Trek movie, followed very closely by First Contact. Khaaaan! 🎥🍿

The supervisor seems unimpressed by this zoom meeting.

Rings of Power this week felt like a filler episode and I’m finding the Harfoot storyline annoying. 📺

The BBC has released the trailer for The Power of the Doctor, which is the final Doctor Who episode with Jodie Whittaker and also the final with Chris Chibnall in charge.

I’m excited for it but mainly because it means Chibnall is gone. Jodie has been ill served with him in charge during her time. I’m very much hoping Russell T Davies finds a way to bin most of the terrible Chibnall concepts, starting with the stupid timeless child premise. 📺

Apparently being one of my oldest friends allowed my dinner guest to work out the passcode for my phone and put Celine on. Only took three guesses because “you’re so predictable and have been for the 35 years I’ve known you”.

The third and final book in a series was released on Audible only early last year. The author intends to release it as an actual book and indicated that would happen in September. It hasn’t yet and it’s becoming both annoying and disappointing. I want to finish the series but I’m not a fan of audio books.

Old friends

On Sunday I spent a lovely afternoon and evening catching up with my best friends from high school and their partners. The ‘80s seems so long ago but also just like yesterday when we’re together. Distance means we only manage it every few years now but I feel blessed to have friends in my life that have been there for 40 years. We slip into a comfortable groove that’s been slowly deepened and smoothed over the course of shared adventures, highs and lows, probably way too many drinks, and much much laughter.

Using Focus, I’ve set up my iPhone to change home screens at night. Now the cat is giving me a look of disapproval for using my phone. 🐈

A little stop at the local craft brewery at the end of my afternoon walk. It’s all about a balanced life.

A schooner of beer in front of stainless steel brewing vats. The wall in the background says PARCHED (extremely thirsty).

I am simply incapable of walking past a stationery store without browsing to see if there is something I need. Unsurprisingly, there usually is.

I stumbled across Zetta Florence in Melbourne last Friday and wandered out with a new port red coloured notebook and a fountain pen.
