Fitting it’s a public holiday today as it’s 40 years since one of the best British police procedurals ever made, The Bill, first aired on 16 August 1983. Meant to be a one off, Woodentop is regarded as the first episode given its popularity led to The Bill starting in 1984 and running until 2010. 📺

Got up, fed the cat, went back to bed with a cup of tea and my book. Wednesday public holidays are the best.

I’ve decided my new response to “but why” questions at work will be the mangled metaphor I trotted out today - because the circus keeps on rolling until we bring the boom gate down.

I’ve finished the trilogy of books the Silo tv series is based on and feel like my view on the first two episodes is validated. The sheriff and wife plot line doesn’t really feature in the books. 📺 Time to settle in and have a quiet Friday night watching Foundation and the season finale of Star Trek SNW. 🖖🏻

    Today’s badge on the jacket.

A square lapel badge pinned to a dark jacket. It has “Don’t be a dick be kind” written on four rows with multicoloured letters.

From the way the two person crew passed too closely and fouled their oars with the four person crew the private schools have new rowing crews training on the river.
